On June 24, the finals of the 2023 Koresh Belt Wrestling World Championships took place in the Republic of Tatarstan. The competition united 4 disciplines of belt wrestling: the main tournament among men, world championship fights among juniors, as well as beach side wrestling and side wrestling on horses. In total, more than 250 athletes from 27 countries took part in the competition.

Preliminary fights took place in the Saba Arena sports complex and the Sabantuy equestrian sports complex in Bogatye Saby village of the Republic of Tatarstan, and the final fights and ceremonial events took place at a specialized site in the village. Minger, Sabinsky district of Tatarstan.

Famous athletes, including Olympic champions Artur Taymazov, Alexei Mishin and Shamil Khisamutdinov, as well as philanthropists, sports functionaries and heads of national federations of various countries, became the guests of honor at the events.


The final part of the competition featured decisive matches of the World Koresh Championship in 11 weight categories, as well as the finals of international sumo competitions and world championships in new disciplines: beach koresh (wrestling on a sand surface) and horseback koresh (belt wrestling on horseback). A total of 27 sets of awards were awarded on this day in all disciplines.

The winner of the absolute weight category of the World Koresh Championship and the winner of the main prize of the competition - a car from Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan - was the wrestler of the Russian national team, Radik Salakhov.
